Our charge

This family loves to play. The problem was not enough space in their late 19th century Dutch Colonial to do so to the degree they wished. So, an addition was conceived to house pool, ping pong, darts and a lounge area with a large screen T.V. The owner’s identified an area at the south side of the house for the addition where a former tool shed had been converted to a screened-in porch. Rather than match or extend the style of the main house. Incite created a form for the games room in keeping with the out-building character of the original tool shed. The addition is a contrasting structure “separated” from the house by glazing slots in the East and West facades. The ping-pong table is located in an open loft with built-in bench seating and storage. The pool table is directly below. The loft is accessed by a floating set of steps with wood slab treads balanced on a center support. A new screened-in porch to replace the old converted tool shed is part of the addition.
